The Sunday School Cottage

11 Upper Thames St., Burra, South Australia

The Sunday School Cottage is family-style accommodation steeped in rich local history. The cottage was originally the Kooringa Primitive Methodist Sunday School in the 1870’s, before becoming part of the Burra Masonic Lodge in 1900. The property has since been renovated and restored.

The Space

The Sunday School Cottage has 2 Queen-sized bedrooms, disability-friendly bathroom, kitchen and dining, laundry, 45-inch television, and barbeque with outdoor dining. The indoor space features extra high ceilings, reminiscent of its old church affiliation. The property is adjacent to the Burra Church (currently closed to public).

Guest Access

The Sunday School Cottage is only a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of town with shops, restaurants, antique shops, pubs and much more for the visitor to Burra. Adjacent to the Sunday School is a walking trail that takes you on a journey through the beautiful Burra Creek park. For those who want to explore a bit further, Burra is short drive to the premier Clare wine region.
